Bogor, Indonesia - The landscape of West Java's hospitality industry is set for a transformation with the official groundbreaking of a dual-branded hotel complex in Cibinong. Led by Archipelago International, the ceremony on November 26, 2025, launched the construction of the Aston Cibinong Resort & Convention Center and Harper Cibinong, two adjacent properties that will collectively offer 450 rooms upon their targeted opening in 2027. This development promises to introduce a new standard of integrated accommodation and large-scale event hosting to the Bogor region.

The centerpiece of the project is the four-star Aston Cibinong Resort & Convention Center. Designed as a comprehensive destination, it will house 232 guest rooms alongside a formidable convention facility capable of hosting grand events. Its flagship grand ballroom is designed to accommodate up to 2,000 attendees, supported by 23 additional meeting rooms, making it one of the largest purpose-built event venues in the area. The resort aspect is highlighted by scenic lake views and full amenities including dining venues, a pool, and a spa.

Adjacent to the resort, the Harper Cibinong will serve as a three-star counterpart, providing 218 rooms geared towards travelers seeking modern comfort and value. This strategic dual-brand approach allows the complex to capture a diverse market, from large corporate conferences and wedding parties requiring the full resort and convention facilities to individual travelers and smaller groups opting for the efficient service of the Harper brand. The entire complex benefits from a highly strategic location with swift access from the Jagorawi Toll Road.

Senior executives from Archipelago International expressed strong optimism about the region's potential. John Flood, the group's CEO, highlighted the project as a "significant milestone" that reflects their commitment to operating world-class properties. He noted that the development is a direct anticipation of the growing tourism and business activity in Cibinong and the greater Bogor area, aiming to provide an "unmatched level of comfort and hospitality".

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by key figures including local government leaders from Bogor Regency and the directors of the developing company, PT Grand Wahid Pratama, signifying the project's importance to regional development. The event featured a symbolic siren sounding, representing joy and hopes for future success for the venture.

This expansion occurs as Indonesia's tourism appeal continues to rise globally. Data from major travel platforms shows a significant year-on-year increase in searches for Indonesian destinations, with travelers from South Korea, Malaysia, and Singapore leading the interest. Archipelago's recent partnership with Agoda to feature its properties, including future ones like these, on a dedicated flagship store online is a strategic move to capture this growing demand.

Upon completion, the Aston and Harper Cibinong complex will fill a notable gap in the region's infrastructure for large international conferences and resort-style meetings. It is expected to become a primary driver for business tourism in West Java, attracting events that were previously held in central Jakarta or other major cities, while also serving as a leisure getaway for both domestic and international visitors.
